Love has an immense ability to help heal the devastating wounds that life sometimes deals us. Love also enhances our sense of connection to the larger world.

Affordable Couples and Individual Therapy

Lilly is a Marriage and Family Therapy Student Intern at Simple Modern Therapy, offering affordable therapy services under the supervision of Andres Larios Brown, LMFT. Through the clinician-supervisor model, clients benefit from lower-cost sessions while receiving high-quality care informed by direct mentorship and support from an experienced therapist.

Her path to this work was paved through years of previous work with teenagers and their families in residential and day treatment settings, as well as the school system. There, she saw firsthand how a therapist can act as a catalyst for change. Whether sitting with a teenager facing trauma, self-harm, or substance use, Lilly found deep fulfillment in being a “trusted adult” and walking alongside her clients through their heaviest moments.

Intersecting Identities and the True Self

Lilly believes that healing begins when we finally find a space where we can be our true selves. Life is challenging, and our view of the world is often shaped by experiences that tell us people and places aren’t always safe. Growing up BIPOC in Utah, Lilly understands the complex dance of identity and the deep search for belonging. This personal lens – navigating the intersections of identity, culture, family and geography – is the heartbeat of her work. She strives to bring that same sense of safety to her clients, helping them navigate the messiness of growth and find a sense of “home” within themselves. She recognizes that while healing from trauma is difficult, it is never impossible. By staying curious and asking the right questions, she works to understand her clients’ stories – how they got here and what experiences shaped who they’ve become – to ensure the therapy reflects who they actually are.

Change Happens in Relationship

Lilly’s passion for connection extends naturally into her work with couples. She believes that coming home to a partner who is gentle, kind, and willing to grow makes facing life’s hardships feel less overwhelming than tackling them alone. Her approach is collaborative and relational; she isn’t a “blank slate” observer, but a collaborator in the process. She knows that making changes is incredibly tough and that the path to a better life is rarely a straight line. Lilly is there to celebrate the small wins, sit with the struggle when things get heavy, and stay in the work with her clients every step of the way.

Areas of Interest

  • Couples Therapy (Salt Lake City): Focusing on “loving responsiveness” and creating a secure home base.

  • Adolescent Therapy (Utah): Experienced in working with teens navigating trauma, self-harm, suicidal ideation, and substance abuse.

  • Adoption-Informed Therapy: Supporting identity development for those navigating the intersection of culture and adoption.

  • BIPOC Mental Health (SLC): Providing a safe, collaborative space for individuals of color to explore their stories.

  • Trauma Recovery: Helping clients navigate life when the world and the people in it haven’t felt safe.

When she’s off the clock, Lilly is likely reading romance and fantasy books or heading to a concert. She believes that sometimes blasting music in the car is all you need to feel better after a hard day. She and her partner are weekly movie-goers, and Lilly will unironically defend Shrek 2 as a cinematic masterpiece with an iconic soundtrack.
